2025 Financial Report
It wasn't as bad as it could have been!
The numbers are in for 2025 and they showed a modest loss of just over $40,000. While this sounds bad, the firm survived and is set up for a solid 2026.
Ordinary Income: 324,504.89
Cost of Goods Sold 186,730.15
Gross Profit 137,774.74
Expense 178,392.01
Net Income -40,617.27
Our gross profit was almost entirely made up of board game sales. Our Circle DC convention made a small profit ($29,533 in revenue versus $26,141.48 in costs), our season baseball tickets made a small loss ($84,630 in revenue versus $87,545 in costs) and our consulting revenue of $1418.88 was reimbursement for expenses we had helping a company from Europe get set up with Amazon FBA.
Our expenses were abnormally high in 2025 because of three higher than normal expense lines - legal fees, travel and multi-media research (read game purchases). With more normal annual expenses, we would have shown a small profit.
Our board game sales to December 25, 2025 are as follows:
FCI-1623 (Shakespeare's First Folio) 1,314 - $39,705.00 (average $30.22)
FCI-1718 (Hunt for Blackbeard) 1,084 - $67,715.00 (average $62.47)
FCI-1791 (First Monday in October) 2,206 - $150,177.00 (average $68.08)
FCI-1801 (The Shores of Tripoli) 4,314 - $200,505.34 (average $46.48)
FCI-1846 (The Halls of Montezuma) 1,281 - $69,515.00 (average $54.27)
FCI-1920 (Votes for Women) 8,016 - $463,575.10 (average $57.83)
We have sold out of two printings of Votes for Women (3600 first print run and 4800 second print run) and have a third print run in the works. We sold out of our first printing of The Shores of Tripoli (5000 print run) and have a second print run in the works. Hunt for Blackbeard (3000 print run), First Monday in October (4000 print run) and The Halls of Montezuma (3000 print run) are all delivering in Q2 2026 - the sales numbers reflect Kickstarter backers and paid pre-orders. Shakespeare’s First Folio has a low average price because we pre-sold 1000 copies to the Folger Shakespeare Library at a significant discount ($25 per copy) to help fund development of the game. We are doing a small first printing (2000 copies) and will have a Kickstarter for the second print run this summer.
I have already spilt plenty of digital ink on the challenges that we faced in 2025. The key is that we survived and are in position to thrive in 2026. I look forward to posting the 2026 financial report next year!
